Council Policies
The Council has a number of plans and strategies, some of which are a statutory requirement (Community Safety Strategy, Local Development Plan, Housing Strategy, Capital Strategy) and some are not statutory but are required by government departments where the Council is seeking funds.
Plans are prepared with partner organisations and some just by the Council. Other plans and strategies help the Council to plan ahead and allocate funds and resources to projects and schemes in areas determined by the Council to be important. This is particularly important in areas of policy which reflect the governments' own priorities (e.g. Crime and Disorder , Sustainable Communities). They give guidance to councillors, members and employees, and are used by external bodies such as Government Office West Midlands and Advantage West Midlands, external assessors and other bodies to allocate funds and to ensure that the council has a strategic focus to it's activities.
Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council have taken a lead in using the Community Strategy as its principal guide for developing our plans and spending.
