Gambling Act 2005

The Gambling Act 2005 creates a new system for licensing and regulation for commercial gambling in this country. It gives local authorities new and extended responsibilities for licensing premises for gambling.

The new Act came fully into force in September 2007.  Each Council is required to consult on and publish a 'Statement of Principles'.

Consultation took place between 21 June 2006 and 30 September 2006.  In light of the representations received, a final Statement of Principles was prepared and this was adopted by Full Council on 04 December 2006.
