Earwigs
Earwigs begin to come into houses in late summer seeking good hiding places for they are noctural, spending the day in sheltered places. By mid September however they have mainly buried themselves in the ground where they spend the winter.
Control
The best method of avoiding a plague of Earwigs is to deny them suitable living conditions close to the house. The removal of nearby vegetation or proofing entry points into the house should provide control against them entering the house.
