How do I avoid getting a Penalty Charge?

• Always display vouchers, badges and permits clearly.  A Civil Enforcement Officer (Parking)must be able to read the details.
• Look for and read the instructions on signs and road markings and follow them. Be aware that temporary signs are just as valid as permanent ones
• Do not park in a space reserved for motorcycles, blue badge holders, residents' permit holders or spaces reserved for any other specific group.
• Make sure your entire vehicle is parked within any marked bays.
• Make sure you pay for sufficient time you need in a pay and display car park - and make sure you get back to your car before the time runs out.
• If a pay and display machine is not working, either go to the next nearest machine or park somewhere else.
• Make sure you do not return to the same parking area within the time shown on the notices/signs.
• If you need to park for a long time, think about using a car park instead of parking on the street.
