Keep Shropshire Warm Continues To Keep Warmth Affordable

Release Date: 12/09/2008

The Government announcement of a one billion pound package of energy saving measures means that further funding will be made available to help householders reduce their energy bills.  The announcement has been welcomed by Shropshire’s Affordable Warmth campaign “Keep Shropshire Warm”

Cllr Judith Williams, Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Sustainability stated “This announcement is good news for those households that still lack the basic affordable warmth measures that will help them reduce their annual energy bills”

Keep Shropshire Warm; an alliance of all six Shropshire Council’s and Marches Energy Agency, has assisted over 3000 households County-wide since it’s launch in January 2008 with loft and cavity wall insulation and advice to households struggling to afford heating in their properites.

Cllr Williams added “KSW work in partnership with Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council, the Government and energy suppliers to ensure that more people around Shropshire can benefit from the increased funding for insulation measures. We offer FREE insulation to all home owners and private tenants over the age of 70 or in receipt of a benefit. We also offer large discounts to everyone else. The installation of both loft and cavity wall insulation could save you as much as £350 a year on your fuel bills”
