Shrewsbury Colleges Co-location Planning Application

Release Date: 02/10/2008

The planning application for the co-location of the two Shrewsbury Colleges has generated a great deal of public interest and involvement. Because of the complex effects on the local and strategic road network of the traffic arising from the co-location it has been necessary for the Applicants, in close consultation with the Highways Agency, to undertake more detailed modelling of the projected traffic flows. The Council issued a press release in early May advising of this reason for the delay in determining the planning application.

The Applicant’s highway consultants have now produced a revised Transport Assessment with Addendum and Appendices. These together with the Interim Travel Plan are available for public viewing and comment. If any interested parties or individuals wish to comment further as a result of these additional documents then any comments should be in writing within 14 days of the date of this press notice. These revised documents are available to view on the Council’s web site or at the Council’s offices.

Because of the large numbers of public making representations on this planning application the Council intends to hold a special meeting, in a large venue, of its Development Control and Environmental Protection Committee to consider just this application. An announcement on the date, time  and venue will be made shortly with a press notice and individual letters posted to all members of the public who wrote letters to the Council.
