Work on the highly anticipated Shrewsbury Bowls Centre commenced on 2nd April 2007.

Allenbuild of Derby was awarded the contract to build the brand new facility, which consists of a modern indoor six rink bowling facility including changing accomodation and social area. The social area includes a bar and kitchen to allow the facility to act not just as a sporting venue but as a vital social hub aimed at building on community inclusion.

The building forms the final phase of the new Shrewsbury Sports Village on Sundorne Road. The contract value is £1.7 million. Sport England, who have already played a vital roll in supporting the Sports Village, are contributing a further £200,000 of new funding to help deliver this important project.
