Annual Efficiency Statement

The Council is required to publish an Annual Efficiency Statement during April each year as part of the Gershon Agenda for the Public Sector. Under this agenda, the Council is required by Government to make year on year savings of 2.5% over the period 2005/2006 to 2007/2008 against a 2004/2005 expenditure baseline.

Efficiency savings are those savings which can be realised from budgets through better organisation of operations; greater use of information and communications technologies; better utilisation of assets; more economical procurement practices; partnership arrangements with other authorities and the private sector; and from the automation of clerical and administrative procedures. Efficiency savings should not affect the standard or level of service provided.
