Amenity Hedges

All hedgerows will receive one visit per year between the months of July-October subject to climatic conditions.

Hedgerows are cut using approved hand-held mechanical hedge trimmers or tractor operated hedge trimming equipment.  Growth will be reduced to a point close to the base of the current years growth.

Hedges identified as priority, visibility issues, will be cut first.

Depending upon the location of the hedgerow the following will be cut.

• Cut both sides, top and ends.
• Cut one side, top and ends
• Cut one side and ends only
• Cut two sides and ends only

The tops of hedgerows will only be cut back if they have received annual maintenance visits.  Tall hedges may be reduced to an acceptable height subject to residents collectively agreeing to the height required eg a petition to the Council and with Councillors supporting such proposals.
