3.0 Relevant Plans and Programmes

3.1 It is essential to have an understanding of all the plans and policies that effect the Borough of Shrewsbury and Atcham and that all of the sustainability and environmental objectives of the plans are linked into the Strategic Environmental Assessment /Sustainability Appraisal of the LDD. Appendix 1 is a list of the plans and policies that are considered relevant to the Local Development Documents. The list of policies has been separated out into five categories as follows:

• Global Sustainability
• Natural Resources
• Local Environmental Quality
• Social Inclusiveness
• Economic Prosperity

3.2 The third column of the table indicates in what form the relevant policies could be most appropriately incorporated into the Local Development Document. This will aid the inclusion of the relevant policies and will act as a checklist on their considerations throughout the production of the Local Development Document.
