The purpose of this study is to inform the planning of future housing by quantifying the brownfield land available in the Borough. The redevelopment of brownfield land is important to the promotion of urban and rural regeneration, the creation of a sustainable pattern of land use and development, and the creation of sustainable communities in the Borough. For these reasons, brownfield land should also be used for mixed use or non-housing redevelopment rather than being reserved exclusively for housing.
