Buying or Leasing Council Assets

The Council does sell and lease various assets to members of the public.  If you are interested in either purchasing or leasing an area of land that you believe is owned by the Council you should contact Technical Services Telephone number is (01743) 281123.

Alternatively you can contact H.M. Land Registry who will be able to confirm who is the owner of the land is. Their contact details are;

On receipt of your application we carry out an investigation to ensure that the sale or lease of the land is acceptable to the various council departments that may be affected eg Parks, Planning and the Countryside Unit.

If this is not acceptable we write to inform you with the reasons why.

Where this is acceptable, after gaining permission from the Council members we obtain a valuation for the asset from the District Valuers Office. The Council appoints them as they are an impartial and independent valuer. On receipt of their valuation we will write to you informing you of the valuation for your consideration.
