Search
We are particularly pleased with the search facility on our website.
A couple of years ago when all the councils in Shropshire were looking to update their search tools, SABC proposed that a joint facility should be developed. SABC played a leading role in the specification and implementation of this facility.
This allows customers searching on our site to be informed about relevant content on the sites of the other districts, the County Council, and other selected sites such as Darwin Country and the Safety Partnership.
The search box is in the top right corner of every page on our site - give it a try!
Remember to look in all three tabs above the search results.
- Shrewsbury Results
results from SABC sites - Search Wider - All Shropshire
results from sites of all Shropshire councils - Related Sites
suggestions of third party sites matching the search criteria - from our database of 2000 recommended websites.
Try going to our home page and searching for . . .
- Air
we have extensive information on air quality, also the related sites tab offers links to all sorts of useful sites - Free School Meals
This is a County service, there are a few low relevance references on our site, but the most relevant information is found via the 'Search Wider' tab on the county site.
You can get better results on this search by changing the Match type from "any words" to "all words" or "exact phrase"
Planning
The planning section on our website has been rated especially highly. The Pendleton Monitoring Survey, released on 29th June rated us 4th in the country, with 20 points out of 21.

Online Discussion Forums
Have you seen our online discussion forums?
Residents can communicate with each other as well as the council on a range of topics and issues.
The discussions are monitored and added to by relevant officers - in many cases we are able to give definitive answers to questions that many people can read, rather than providing answers to just individuals.

Forms
An additional partnership project involved the introduction of an online forms tool to the website. This allows us to create online forms that website visitors can use to report problems, apply for things online, and generally communicate with the council. The benefits of online forms include convenient 24x7 access to council services for everybody, particularly those with limited mobility, or those who live a distance away from the council. Processing queries and service provision automatically is also cost efficient.
Intranet
The following facilities are available on the SABC internal network, but not on the public website.
- Staff Directory
- Staff noticeboard
- Personnel resources
- Image Library
