Electronic Document and Records Management System - EDRMS

The Council is currently implementing a project to introduce a corporate EDRMS system across all Council services by the end of 2005.

The system will allow for the scanning, processing, storage and easy retrieval of documents on line and help us to progress to a minimum paper style of working.  This will improve efficiency, access to data and greatly assist with information and knowledge management.

The first two services to volunteer to implement in depth are Environmental Health and Public Amenities.  They are now operating the system.

Other services such as Democratic Services, Policy, Property Services and Engineerings have started to use the system, at least as a virtual filing cabinet, in the same time frame.

Other services will then roll out the system, thick and fast over the next 2 years.

This is a challenging project but one which we are well prepared to undertake.  The project has the full support of the Corporate Management Team and is well championed by our ICT Portfolio Holder Councillor Mike Owen.
